Background:
The Sheriff's Department has received this grant funding since 2008. This funding has allowed for patrols on the Rubicon Trail to address several issues over the years which enhnaced law enforcement has mitigated.  For a period of time the Rubicon Trail was not a family friendly environment, however due to an increased County presence, users have noticed a positive change in the environment and culture and the Trail is once again a safe place for families to enjoy.

Reason for Recommendation:
Adoption of the resolution is required for the grant application.  Continuation of this grant will allow for law enforcement on the trail which is vital to public safety and to the environment. This funding provides for the continued activity and patrols on the trail.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
1) Preliminary application was submitted on March 7, 2011
2) Final applications will be submitted on May 2, 2011
3) Sheriff's Department will return to the board with Project Agreement if successful
