Background:
The California State Library is providing federal Library Services and Technology Act funding for the salary of an extra help employee and the purchase of the equipment and supplies to develop a Homework Center and Teen Council in the El Dorado Hills Library. In an effort to streamline the Library Services and Technology Act grant application process for California libraries, the State Library announced a new process called “Pitch an Idea” to help libraries develop grant-worthy applications based on a short explanation of their ideas. The EDC Library received $11,000 in grant funding for this new program at the El Dorado Hills Library called “Teens Make a Difference @ the Library”.

The El Dorado Hills Library plans to 1) establish an after-school homework center for ages 10 to 18 using volunteer assistants, and 2) organize a Teen Council that will include both a library and a community service focus. Grant ...
