Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
There is no cost to the General Fund. RSTP funding is available from the EDCTC.

Background:
The City of Placerville and County of El Dorado Department of Transportation (DOT) have identified an existing 54-inch, 160 foot long corrugated metal pipe culvert in danger of collapse on a section of the El Dorado Trail. The culvert runs under the El Dorado Trail approximately 1,750 east of Schnell School Road where the trail forms an embankment in excess of 25 feet high. Ultimate failure of this culvert could have severe consequence to the trail, both upstream residents, and US Highway 50 immediately downstream. The City of Placerville and DOT have jointly researched the situation and are in agreement that the culvert requires replacement.

The El Dorado County Transportation Commission adopted resolution 10/11.17 allocating $400,000 of available Rural RSTP funds for the El Dorado Trail Culvert Replacement project. This is a joint project between the County of El Dorado and the City of Placerville. The County and the City have agreed that the County will be the lead agency for the delivery of this project.
