Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. Expenditures for purchases made relative to this Reimbursement Agreement are offset by Homeland Security Grant funds.

Background:

Previously, your Board established the Approval Authority to administer the use of Homeland Security Grant funds. The Approval Authority consists of represenatives from the City of Placerville, City of South Lake Tahoe, Sheriff's Office and Fire Districts. The Approval Authority approved the disbursement of $39,000 to the El Dorado Irrigation District (EID) for the purcahse of waterproof day/night security cameras, motion sensors and remote video engine equipment.

Reason for Recommendation:

Due to the need to enter into licensing agreements with the vendor, the EID will be purchasing all of the necessary equipment in accordance with Homeland Security Grant requirements. Approval of this recommendation will allow the Sheriff's Office to reimburse the EID in an amount not to exceed $39,000, and subsequently receive Homeland Security Grant funds to offset 100% of the costs.

The Sheriff's Office will be monitoring the purchases made on an annual basis, including the purchasing process, ensuring the equipment remains in good working condition and is being used in accordance with grant requirements.
