Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  None.  These grant funds and associated expenses, including the matching requirement, were included in the Sheriff's FY 2011/12 budget.

Background:

The California Emergency Managment Agency (Cal EMA) is making these funds available each fiscal year to support comprhensive emergency management at the tribal and local levels to encourage the improvement of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery for all hazards.

Reason for Recommendation:

The Sheriff's Office applied and was awarded $158,893 with a County match requirement of 100%, and is requesting Board approval to accept the grant funds.  The Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services staff spend 100% of their time on tasks that are reimbursable through this grant, allowing the Sheriff's Office to meet the match requirement.  This grant benefits El Dorado County in that it offsets general fund costs associated with Office of Emergency Services staff salaries.

Action to be taken following Board approval:  The resolution will be mailed to Cal-EMA, and the Sheriff's Office will submit claims for costs incurred in order to receive the grant funds.
