Title: Sheriff's Office recommending the Board authorize the Chair to sign Agreement No. 321-M1210 with the County of Alpine to provide personnel and facilities for housing of Alpine County prisoners who are arrested by officers of the Alpine County's Sheriff's Department in an amount not to exceed $55,000 per fiscal year. This agreement is perpetual until terminated by either party.

Sheriff's Office recommending the Board authorize the Chair to sign Agreement No. 321-M1210 with the County of Alpine to provide personnel and facilities for housing of Alpine County prisoners who are arrested by officers of the Alpine County's Sheriff's Department in an amount not to exceed $55,000 per fiscal year.  This agreement is perpetual until terminated by either party.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None
 
Background: In December of 2008 El Dorado County signed Agreement #489-M0911 with the County of Alpine in the amount of $150,000 to provide personnel and facilities for housing of Alpine County prisoners who had been arrested by Alpine County Sheriff's Department. This agreement supersedes all previous agreements.
 
Reason for Recommendation: This new agreement has been established to clarify and update the previous agreement.  The daily rate for housed inmates from Alpine County will be reimbursed at a rate of $112.00 per day with a not to exceed limit of $55,000 for each fiscal year.
 
The term of the agreement shall be effective upon signing and shall be in effect until amended by either party as provided for under California Penal Code section 4009.
 
Action to be taken following Board approval: The Chair of the Board will sign the Agreement which will remain in effect until revoked as provided for under California Penal Code section 4009.  The Clerk of the Board will return the executed copies to the Sheriff's Office for distribution.
