1) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to extend BP20110894 for an additional twelve month term to expire on 05/18/2014 for the purchase of Plant Mix Asphalt Concrete for the East Slope of El Dorado County to the low qualified bidder Tahoe Asphalt, Inc. of South Lake Tahoe, CA.; and
2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to increase the blanket purchase order on an "as needed" basis during the awarded period as long as funding is available within the requesting department's budget.
FUNDING: Road Discretionary Fund.

Procurement and Contracts has been advised that funding is available within the Community Development Agency - Division of Transportation's budget, Road Discretionary Fund.
Reason For Recommendation
At the request of the Community Development Agency - Division of Transportation, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued Invitation to Bid No.11-288-050 for the purchase of Plant Mix Asphalt Concrete. On 05/17/2011 Item No. 9, the Board of Supervisors awarded the East Slope portion of bid No.11-288-050 to the low qualified bidder Tahoe Asphalt, Inc. of South Lake Tahoe, CA. in the amount of $175,000 for a two-year period expiring on 05/18/2013. The Board also authorized the Purchasing Agent to increase the blanket purchase order on an "as needed" basis, provided that funding was available in the Transportation Division's budget. Over the past two years, the department has spent approximately $1,250,000 with this vendor. The department is requesting an additional $180,000 for the next 12 months with authority for the Purchasing Agent to increase the contract amount as needed. Tahoe Asphalt, Inc. of South Lake Tahoe, CA has agreed to extend the Bid with the same pricing, and terms and conditions of the original bid.
