Background
Health centers improve the health of the nation's underserved communities and vulnerable populations by ensuring access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary health care services. This grant provides a funding opportunity for organizations seeking operational support in specific geographic service areas, including Placerville. The El Dorado County Community Health Center ("Health Center") and the Health and Human Services Agency ("HHSA") have a long-standing relationship of collaboration toward a mutual goal of affording access to healthcare and social services for the residents of the County.
Reason for Recommendation
Board of Supervisors Policy A-5 "Grant Endorsements for Non-County Agencies" requires approval from the Board prior to any Department endorsing a non-county grant application. This letter supports the Health Center's application for a Service Area Competition Grant to further their efforts to provide high quality care for the residents of the County.
Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
Health and Human Services Agency Director to sign attached letter of support and provide same to El Dorado Community Health Center in time to meet the July 31, 2013 deadline.
