The "El Dorado County Christmas Singers" has been an employee choir since 1985, when it first performed with only a few singers. Everyone within the county is welcome to join in and has included more than 50 participants but averages about 20-30 county employees, taking their lunch hours to practice, then performing throughout the West Slope county departments. This year, they will make 11 singing appearances, including Senior Day Care, Senior Nutrition, Mental Health, Buildings B and C, Agriculture Department, Probation, Health and Human Services Agency and Juvenile Hall, with a special stop at Mother Lode Rehabilitation Enterprises, Inc. (MORE), concluding their tour at the Main Library.
The choir has been fortunate enough to find someone each year to step forward as a conductor, except for this year, following the retirement of the previous conductor. It is hoped that someone from the audience will step up to guest conduct the County Christmas Singers at this year's Board of Supervisors' performance.
