Background
Pursuant to El Dorado County Ordinance Code, Title 5, Section 5.14.070, Business Taxes, Licenses and Regulations, an application for a fortunetelling business license shall be expressly authorized by the County Board of Supervisors. The board may limit the number of licenses issued to such number as in its judgment will serve the public health, safety and welfare. Currently, there are two active business licenses and this application pending for fortunetelling / psychic reading in the unincorporated areas of El Dorado County.
Reason for Recommendation
Tabitha Davis, doing business as El Dorado County Psychic, has made application for a business license as a psychic adviser and life coach. Pursuant to Ordinance Code section 5.14.070, the Sheriff has reviewed the applicant's background, and has filed a written report stating no objection to the issuance of the business license. The Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office has reviewed the itinerant business license application and the Sheriff's report, and does not object to the issuance of the business license.
Clerk of the Board Follow Up Actions
Upon Board approval, the Sheriff's Office shall issue a special (itinerant) business license for the applicant, and upon payment of the $130.00 license fee, (authorized under Board Resolution #179-2003), the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office will issue the business license.
