DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
The Transporation Division is recommending Board approval of the road closure to provide for the safety of participants, volunteers and spectators along the course, and to enhance the success of this community event. Other involved agencies have made no objection to this closure.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The "Pleasant Valley 4th of July Parade" is celebrating its 30th year. This event is sponsored by the Pleasant Valley Grange #675. The Boy Scouts set up carnival type booths in the Fire Department's driveway for balloon toss, dunk tank, etc. and will sell sodas and hot dogs. This is a community event with lots of kids on their decorated bicycles, horses, dogs, tractors and old cars. The Fire Department also has several fire engines in the parade. The Pleasant Valley Grange holds a pancake breakfast fundraiser in the morning from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. The requested road closures are for the safety of the parade participants, children, volunteers, and spectators along the course.
