Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, recommending the Board receive and file the presentation "County Roads affected by the King Fire".

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The King Fire of September 2014 resulted in thousands of acres of fire damaged timber. The salvage operations to remove the merchantable resources has resulted in extensive hauling operations affecting the pavement conditions of Wentworth Springs Road, White Meadows Road, and Peavine Ridge Road, which are in the County maintained roadway system.

Due to the salvage operations after the fire event, these roadways have deteriorated significantly to the point that several areas have been or will be reduced to an unserviceable condition. These roadways require a major rehabilitation of nearly 130,000 square feet of pavement. If this rehabilitation work is not completed before fall’s wet weather conditions occur, these deteriorated areas will become hazardous or impassible for resident and public travel.

The Transportation Division (Transportation) has two options: (1) perform the work with Transportation Maintenance and Operations (M&O) staff; or (2) utilize contractors to perform the work. With the rain season fast approaching, emergency construction contracts would be required if that option is utilized, which could result in higher than normal costs. If Transportation M&O performs the repairs the following scheduled major rehabilitation projects will not be completed:
