Title

Supervisor Novasel recommending the Board consider the following:

1) Receive a presentation on the Early Care and Education Planning Council Annual Self-Evaluation Report by Elizabeth Blakemore, Assistant Director, Child Development Programs and Services, County Office of Education; and

2) Authorize the Chair to sign the El Dorado County Early Care and Education Planning Council Annual Self-Evaluation Report. (Est. Time: 20 Min.)

Body

The Board of Supervisors appoints half of the Early Care and Education Planning Council  members  and shares  authority to the council with the County Office of Education Superintendent of Schools. The fifteen member council ensures that the county’s child care needs are assessed and a strategic plan is developed to meet those needs. In addition, the council establishes local priorities for subsidized child care funding. State mandates contained in Education Code 8499.3 - .7, and state legislation (AB 1542, 1997) prescribes collaboration and partnerships within the child care community with a strategic focus on program quality improvement. The presentation will review the High 5 for Quality Program which invites all licensed providers to engage in a quality improvement strategies designed to impact positive child development outcomes.
