DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION:
Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) recommends that the Board accept a restricted donation of $5,400 from Iva Heuser, a long-time dedicated volunteer at the Senior Center, for the designated purpose of purchasing and installing eight (8) new custom-made bookcases in the library located within the Placerville Senior Center.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:
The Placerville Senior Center, located at 937 Spring Street, provides various services to the Seniors of the County including a lending library consisting of miscellaneous books, magazines, puzzles, and games. The existing six (6) bookcases are old and mismatched, and many of the bookcase shelves are cracked or missing. The existing shelving will not support the weight of many books. Boxes are used to store the books that do not fit onto the existing functioning bookcase shelves, making it difficult to view the selection.

Iva Heuser is a long-time volunteer at the Placerville Senior Center, is the lead volunteer in charge of the library and wishes to donate the new custom-made bookcases. The books, magazines, and puzzles maintained in the Senior Center lending library are free for use by the seniors who utilize the Placerville Senior Center.
