Reason for Recommendation:
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Lynn Daucher as director of the California Department of Aging (CDA) in February, 2007, and her appointment is scheduled to be confirmed by the Senate Rules Committee on February 5, 2008.  Ms. Daucher has extensive public service and legislative experience and has demonstrated a recognition and understanding of the unique issues affecting seniors and the needs of the State's growing senior population.  The consensus within the Aging Network is that she will prove to be a strong and dedicated leader as Director of CDA.  Suggested language for a letter supporting confirmation of Ms. Daucher's appointment is attached.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
Board Clerk to send support letter with appropriate copies and provide Human Services, Community Services Division with a copy of the letter.
