Reason for Recommendation:
Annually, the Federal Government declares the month of May Foster Parent Recognition Month.  The 2008 theme is "Foster Parents Change Lifetimes".  Adoption and presentation of a proclamation to designate May, 2008 as Foster Parent Recognition Month in El Dorado County provides an opportunity for the Board of Supervisors to honor local foster families, pay tribute to the foster parent population in local communities and throughout the world and to encourage all businesses, public and private, schools, groups and citizens to recognize and celebrate foster parents as a vital and valuable resource. A local celebration, sponsored by El Dorado County Child Protective Services, is scheduled on May 15th at the El Dorado County Human Services Department facility on Briw Road.  The proclamation is attached.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
Board Clerk to provide Human Services, Social Services Division at Briw Road, with a copy of the signed Foster Parent Recognition Proclamation presented to Ms. Bonnie McLane, President, El Dorado County Foster Parents' Association during the Board meeting.
