Transportation Department recommending the Chairman be authorized to sign Agreement for Services AGMT 08-1691 with Area Transit Management, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $1,411,146.96 for the term of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2011 to provide demand response transit services in the South Lake Tahoe Basin, and adopt recommended findings.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.
FUNDING: Federal Transit Administration Grant Funds and Transportation Development Act Monies granted through the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
Funding for this Agreement will be provided by Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Grant Funds and by Transportation Development Act (TDA) Funds allocated annually through the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), sitting as the Regional Transportation Planning Agency. Additionally, riders will pay a bus fare based on El Dorado County's (County) transit operator's fare box rates that will be retained by the County transit operator consistent with the terms of the Agreement. There is no Net County Cost.
Background:
In April 1998, the County entered into a Participation Agreement to implement a Coordinated Transit System (CTS) on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. CTS participants include the City of South Lake Tahoe, Douglas County (Nevada), the Tahoe Transportation District, various casinos and Heavenly Mountain Resort. Since its inception, CTS has been operated by Area Transit Management, Inc. (ATM) under separate operating contracts.
