*$451,719.96 was included in the Department's proposed FY 08/09 budget. The remaining amount will be budgeted in FY 09/10 and FY 10/11.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
Funding for this Agreement will be provided by Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Grant Funds and by Transportation Development Act (TDA) Funds allocated annually through the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), sitting as the Regional Transportation Planning Agency. Additionally, riders will pay a bus fare based on El Dorado County's (County) transit operator's fare box rates that will be retained by the County transit operator consistent with the terms of the Agreement. There is no Net County Cost.

Background:
In April 1998, the County entered into a Participation Agreement to implement a Coordinated Transit System (CTS) on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. CTS participants include the City of South Lake Tahoe, Douglas County (Nevada), the Tahoe Transportation District, various casinos and Heavenly Mountain Resort. Since its inception, CTS has been operated by Area Transit Management, Inc. (ATM) under separate operating contracts.
