The amount of any County Contribution to Senior Services is determined annually through the County budget process. Required County Match is met primarily with in-kind resources.

Reason for Recommendation:
The California Department of Aging requires an annual update to the 2005-2009 Area Plan for Senior Services approved by the Board on May 24, 2005. The 2008-09 Area Plan Update reviews FY 2007/08 accomplishments and provides guidance for continued provision of senior services in El Dorado County, with an ongoing focus on targeting resources to the priorities of awareness of services, elder abuse prevention, aging in place and health and wellness. Key changes and highlights include the appointment of Doug Nowka as Department Director and of Janet Walker-Conroy as Director of the Area Agency on Aging, CSAC Merit Award recognition of the Elder Protection Unit, enhanced Legal Assistance services, reinstatement of the co-location of Home of Elder and Adult Resource Team (HEART) services and closure of the Shingle Springs Senior Nutrition Congregate Meal Site. The Transmittal Letter, 2008-09 Area Plan Update and a detailed summary of the changes and highlights are attached and on file with the Board Clerk.
