Title
Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division, recommending the Board declare a weapon as surplus and approve the transfer of a duty weapon to a retiring Sheriff's Office employee.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.
Body
Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: The Sheriff's Office Armory will receive the funds paid by the retired employee and purchase a replacement weapon.
Reason for Recommendation: Deputy Paul Lydick recently retired as a Deputy with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and desires to purchase his Glock model #22 service weapon serial #DRT533. Since this is the current weapon issued by the Sheriff's Office, policy requires that the employee purchase the weapon for the exact amount it would cost the Sheriff to replace the weapon. The replacement value, as quoted by LC Action Police Supply, is $439.68 including sales tax.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Upon approval of the recommendation, the Procurement and Contracts Division will process the necessary surplus property transfer request, and the Sheriff's Office shall execute a sale of the duty weapon through Big Horn Gunshop.
