Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Total grant award spans two County fiscal years, beginning January 1, 2009 and ending December 31, 2009. Currently, one-half of the grant award is budgeted for FY 2008-09; the remaining grant award amount will be budgeted in FY 2009-10. There is a 20% County match requirement, which is covered by in-kind services funded by Index Code 404147 (Adult Felony Drug Court) and 404144 (Juvenile Drug Court) using Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Federal Block Grant funding. There is no net County cost.

Background: The purpose of the CDCI program is to provide direct court supervision, regular drug screening, and to direct clients to appropriate substance abuse treatment services.

Reason for Recommendation: Public Health receives funding through the CDCI Agreement with the State to provide Drug Court services, in collaboration with the Superior Court, for both the youth of El Dorado County and their families who are struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction; and persons with alcohol and/or drug adult felony charges.
