Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. The Sheriff's FY08/09 budget contains funds for these services.

Background: The Coroner's Section of the Sheriff's Office historically has contracted for pathology services. William J. Gilles, M.D. of Placerville, CA has provided general pathology services countywide for a number of years. The current contract expires on July 31, 2008 and this new agreement allows Dr. Gilles to continue to provide pathology services for FY2008/2009.

Reason for Recommendation: The Sheriff's Office has requested a contract with William Gilles, M.D. for the provision of selected medical pathology and related services for the Sheriff's Coroner Division. The Procurement and Contracts Division has processed the subject agreement. The agreement becomes effective upon execution and is set to expire one year from the date thereafter. The total not to exceed amount of the contract is $141,000.00.

The Purchasing Agent has coordinated the outside review of the consultant's qualifications to perform the needed services with Gregory Wyatt, Assistant Coroner, Sacramento County Coroner's Office.
