Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  None.  The current Blue Book value of this vehicle is $3,755.  Unger Construction is donating this vehicle at no cost to the County nor with any expectation of a tax write off or contractual obligations.

Background:  Construction site theft investigations are increasing in El Dorado County.  Historically, the Sheriff has had problems obtaining "bait" rental vehicles as the need is incident driven, and damage is usually incurred on the vehicle by forced entry.

Reason for Recommendation:  Unger Construction Company has offered the Sheriff one of their older company pickup trucks for use as a "bait" vehicle via the Construction Crime Prevention Program of Northern California (CICP).  CICP assists law enforcement agencies with construction site crime prevention including bait vehicles, bait items and surveillance.  The only request from CICP is that any arrest statistics related to this bait vehicle be forwarded to CICP to justify further donations.  The truck is in good working order with a clear title.

Action to be taken following Board approval:  Title will be transferred to the El Dorado County Sheriff and the vehicle will be added to the Sheriff's inventory.
