Title
Supervisor Baumann recommending adoption of Resolution 206-2008 formally requesting Governor Schwarzenegger take immediate action to provide fire prevention and maintenance work on California's federal wild and forest lands.

Body
Supervisor Baumann requests Board adopt Resolution 206-2008, formally requesting that Governor Schwarzenegger take immediate action to provide fire prevention and maintenance work on California's federal wild and forest lands.

The adoption of this Resolution is part of a strategy developed by the Regional Council of Rural Counties to engage state and federal officials regarding forest management and wildfire prevention within California.

Additionally, this Resolution contains language addressing concerns prompted by the recent release of the "Climate Change Draft Scoping Plan" discussion draft, pursuant to the provisions contained in Assembly Bill 32 - The Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (Nunez, Chapter 488, Statutes of 2006).  The discussion draft fails to address emissions from fires on United States Forest Service lands and makes only a vague mention of fuel reduction.
