Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None; this incoming funding was included in the FY 2009-10 Proposed Budget. There is no Net County Cost associated with this Agreement.

Background: The County has been an active participant in collaboration with the El Dorado Union High School District in providing preventive health care intervention and education to at-risk students and their families since 1996. Through the provision of a centralized Public Health Nurse (PHN) on campus, initially established by a State Healthy Start Grant, students have been able to access direct referral to a full scope of community based resources. The PHN provides expert assessment and case management for those students and families that are at highest risk for complex health, psychosocial, and academic challenges.

Initial uncertainties regarding a funding source for this ongoing program created a delay in finalizing the Agreement; however, upon determination that funding would be available, staff immediately prepared this Agreement for the next available Board date.

Reason for Recommendation: Approval of this Agreement for Services will allow continuation of this very successful 13 year partnership between EDUHSD and the County to promote health in the youth population of El Dorado County.
