Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: There is no Net County Cost associated with this internship program and related Agreement.

Background: CSU Chico is developing partnerships with local public healthcare settings for the nursing student internship program. The Department was approached by CSU Chico to establish a collaborative partnership to provide these students with clinical and educational experiences that would enhance their capabilities as practitioners. The County’s Health Services Department, Public Health Division, would serve as an appropriate venue for this purpose.

Interns will perform services for patients/clients only when directly supervised by registered or licensed Department clinical staff. Interns shall work, perform assignments, and participate in clinics, staff meetings, and in-service educational programs at the discretion of Department supervisors. Staff will also work with CSU Chico in evaluating each student during the course of his/her internship. The presence of nursing interns in the Public Health facilities will not interfere with the regular activities of the staff nor disrupt services to the public.

Compensation: There is no remuneration associated with this work experience program.

Termination: This Agreement may be terminated by either party after giving the other party thirty (30) days advance written notice of the intention to terminate, while allowing any student currently participating in the program to complete the internship.
