Title

Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health Division, recommending the Board authorize the Public Health Division to use a portion of the WellDorado Partnership Fund to purchase food/refreshments for members, stakeholders, and partners attending Community Health Improvement Process monthly meetings.

FUNDING:  WellDorado Partnership Funds - Public Health Realignment.

Body

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION:

Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) recommending the Board authorize the Public Health Division the use a portion of the funds set aside for the WellDorado partnership to purchase food and refreshments for Community Health Improvement Process (CHIP) monthly meetings.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:

HHSA, Public Health Division is currently pursuing National Public Health Accreditation.  One of the prerequisites for accreditation is a comprehensive CHIP which involves community members, stakeholders and public health partners to join forces and develop strategies to address the four focus areas that were identified through our Community Health Assessment.  Public Health has developed the WellDorado partnership which brings together our partners to coordinate and target resources.  This partnership will meet monthly to work through the goals and objectives identified through the CHIP.

Members of the WellDorado partnership have agreed to participate voluntarily and HHSA would like to use some of the money set aside for this partnership to purchase food/refreshments for the monthly meetings to help facilitate the development of positive and sustainable working relationships with our community members and stakeholders.  HHSA believes that this incentive will foster participation in mobilization efforts, planning activities and will ultimately serve to ensure the right people are at the table to address the public health issues that matter most to the community.  The WellDorado partnership will be an ongoing partnership.

ALTERNATIVES:

Disapproval will require HHSA to identify other incentives to increase community participation.
