DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Business and Professions Code §6361 states that the Board of Supervisors of the county in which the law library is established shall provide sufficient quarters for the use of the library.  The El Dorado County Law Library has occupied the office space at 550 Main Street, Suite A in Placerville for over 16 years to provide a central location to serve the legal needs of our community. Cost of this space, located within the City of Placerville, is $1.494/square foot for the 3-year term.

 

ALTERNATIVES

The Law Library would need to move from its current location if this lease is not approved.

The Chief Administrative Office concurs with the department recommendation.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funding for the lease is included in the FY 2016-17 Library Budget.  No change to Net County Cost.

Board Clerk will forward to Procurement & Contracts a fully executed original copy of Lease Agreement No. 146-L1711 for distribution.
