DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, is recommending Board approval of the road closures to allow for the safety and success of this annual community event. Other involved agencies have made no objection to the closure of Main Street in Georgetown between Harkness Street and State Highway 193 and Harkness Street from B Street and Main Street for the "Parade of Lights" event. Barricades will be placed at the intersections of Main Street/Placer Street and Main Street/Orleans Street to facilitate traffic control. Vehicles can utilize adjacent parallel roads to travel around the event.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Georgetown "Parade of Lights" is an annual event sponsored by the Georgetown Divide Rotary. The requested road closures are for the safety of the participants, children, volunteers, and spectators along the event route. Signs will be posted one week prior to the event informing the traveling public of the date and time of the road closures.

ALTERNATIVES
If the Board does not approve of the road closures, the event would not take place at this time or location. If the Sponsors want to proceed, other options would need to be explored.
