Body

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION:

Ronnie Marks, doing business as El Dorado County Psychic, has made application for a business license as a psychic.  After reviewing the itinerant business license application and receiving the Sheriff's recommendation in favor of the license, the Treasurer/Tax Collector is forwarding the application for issuance of the business license.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Pursuant to El Dorado County Ordinance Code, Title 5, Section 5.14.070, Business Taxes, Licenses and Regulations, no license may be issued without the express authorization of the Board of Supervisors.  Currently there are two active business licenses for fortunetelling / psychic reading in the unincorporated areas of El Dorado County.  The Board may limit the number of licenses issued to such number as in its judgment will serve the public health, safety and welfare.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board may decide not to authorize the license.

OTHER DEPARTMENT/AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The Sheriff's Office recommends issuing the license.  Applicant has submitted finger prints, cleared by the Department of Justice and the Sheriff's department, pursuant to county ordinance 5.14.070 and ordinance 3737 5 1987, Ord. 3515 12(part), 1985  (Memorandum from the Sheriff's office is attached to file)
