Background:
In late 2007, the AQMD learned that the Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 Bicycle and Pedestrian Funding was available from the EDCTC for bike racks at the El Dorado County Government Center.
General Services, working with the AQMD, identified appropriate locations and types of bike racks for use at the El Dorado County Government Center. A joint letter was submitted on April 4, 2008 to EDCTC requesting TDA funds for the purchase of the bike racks. The EDCTC Board approved resolution 07/08.22 on May 1, 2008 which programmed TDA Article 3 Pedestrian and Bicycle Funding to El Dorado County for Bike Racks at the El Dorado County Government Center.
Reason for Recommendation:
The AQMD encourages the reduction of both vehicle trips and the associated air emissions. The installation of bike racks encourages the use of bicycles for both employees and customers. These racks will be a statement that El Dorado County is supportive of alternate modes of transportation.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
AQMD will purchase bike racks for installation by General Services.
