Background: In 2006, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office became a sub-grantee of the Cal-MMET grant that is administered by Yolo County.  Yolo County has advised the participating agencies that there is an unspent balance of FY 2007/08 grant funds of $215,478 and the portion that has been allocated to El Dorado County is $74,000.  The State Office of Emergency Services has received Yolo County's request to extend the term of the grant through 12/31/08 to allow agencies sufficient time to spend the balance of the grant funds.

Reason for Recommendation:  The Sheriff needs to process a Budget Transfer Request adding an additional $74,000 in revenue and offsetting expenditures to his FY2008/09 budget.  The Memorandum of Understanding with the South Lake - El Dorado Narcotic Enforcement Team (SLEDNET) will also need to be amended to identify the increase in Cal-MMET funding allocated to the SLEDNET operational budget ($41,000) and extending the agreement through 12/31/2008.

Action to be taken following Board approval:  The Board will; 1) approve and the Auditor will process the Budget Transfer Request; and 2) Sheriff staff will work with County Counsel to amend the FY2007/2008 operational MOU with SLEDNET.
