Title
Presentation by Lt. Randy Peshon on the South Lake Tahoe Jail Programs, Featuring the Culinary Arts Program.
Body
Sheriff Jeff Neves and the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department through the South Lake Tahoe Jail have created a network of  partnerships within the South Lake Tahoe community to better facilitate the preparation of inmates for assimilation back into society.

These inmate programs involve volunteers from local churches, drug and alcohol counseling, a multi-agency cooperative for mental health assistance, general education, English as a Second Language and employment assistance through a contract with the County Office of Education, public health counseling, bi-lingual services, work release, own recognizance, day reporting, re-entry counseling and finally, today's featured presentation, the Culinary Arts Program in cooperation with the Lake Tahoe Community College.

The volunteers, jail staff, nonprofits, public agencies, the Lake Tahoe Community College, especially Jeannette Shippee, the Sheriff's Department, and the inmates themselves, deserve recognition for striving to make a positive result come from a potentially long term negative condition and save the taxpayers money in the process.
