Title
Supervisor Santiago recommending that the Board consider the following:

1) Adopt Resolution 022-2009 supporting continued funding of the California Conservation Corps (CCC); and

2) Authorize the Chairman to sign a letter to Governor Schwarzenegger opposing the proposed elimination of the California Conservation Corps. (Cont'd 2/10/09, Item 26)
Body
The Governor is proposing the elimination of the California Conservation Corps (CCC) as we know it functionally to date. The County of El Dorado, as does the region, benefits greatly from the efforts of the CCC. Their assistance with forest health, fuels management, fire suppression, environmental restoration, erosion control, revegetation, vocational training, continuing education, workforce development, and foster youth transitional training, equates to a benefit for communities, the environment and the future of our youth.

It is imperative to hold onto highly productive and well functioning programs at the state, of which the CCC is a perfect example.
