Chief Administrative Office, Facilities Management Division, recommending the Board authorize the Chair to execute the Exercise of Option to Extend Letter, as specified in the Option to Extend provision in Lease No. 069-L1411 with the Assembly Committee on Rules, California State Assembly, for 96 square feet of space located at 2441 Headington in Placerville for State Assemblyman Bigelow, extending the term an additional two years to February 28, 2020, with no changes to other provisions of the lease agreement.

 

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On July 23rd, 2013, the Board authorized the Chair to sign Lease Agreement No. 069-L1411 between the County of El Dorado (Lessor) and the Assembly Committee on Rules, California State Assembly (Lessee) for 96 square feet of space located at 2441 Headington in Placerville.  On June 14th, 2016, the Board authorized the Chair to sign Amendment No. 1 to this lease which extended the term to February 28th, 2018, and provided a two-year renewal option (Paragraph 9, Option to Extend).

 

In 2013 California State Assemblyman Bigelow requested office space for a staff person at a centrally located County facility.  State Assemblymen Bigelow represents El Dorado County east of South Shingle Road to South Lake Tahoe.  The staff person interacts with the community to address needs and concerns while being centrally located.  Additionally, this has provided County officials direct access to communicate issues regarding County concerns.

 

Exercising the Option to Extend letter shall increase this term an additional two years for a revised expiration of February 28th, 2020.

 

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could decline to exercise the option to extend the term and the Assembly Committee on Rules, California State Assembly would need to find a different location.

It is recommended that the Board approve this item.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There is no charge for the lease of County owned space. The General Fund reimburses the Road Fund $3,284 annually for this space.
