Community Development Services, Department of Transportation, recommending the Board consider the following pertaining to the Cosumnes Mine Road & Bridge Storm Damage Repairs Project, Contract PW 18-31209, CIP 78700/78701/78712, Contract 2719:
1) Approve and adopt the Plans and Contract Documents and authorize the Chair to sign the Plans; and
2) Authorize advertisement for construction bids.
FUNDING: Local and State discretionary funding initially (100%), with Department of Transportation staff working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the California Office of Emergency Services to obtain reimbursement. (Local, State, and Federal)

Community Development Services, Department of Transportation (Transportation), recommending the Board consider the following pertaining to the Cosumnes Mine Road and Bridge Storm Damage Repairs Project (Project), Contract PW 18-31209, CIP 78700/78701/78712, Contract 2719:
1) Approve and adopt the Plans and Contract Documents and authorize the Chair to sign the Plans; and
2) Authorize advertisement for construction bids (the total estimated cost for the Project’s construction phase is $2,205,709).
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The process for this urgent Project is on a fast track due to funding reimbursement constraints and environmental permit requirements for completing in-water bridge work prior to October 15, 2018. The Notice to Proceed for the Project must be issued by July 16, 2018 to meet the associated deadlines. This Project is necessary to repair damage to Cosumnes Mine Road and the north bridge approach on Cosumnes Mine Road at the Cosumnes River caused by the storms of 2017. The Project includes slipout locations #1 and #2 for slope, culvert and road failures on Cosumnes Mine Road as well as the North bridge approach repair.
