Background: In 2006, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office became a sub-grantee of the Cal-MMET grant that is administered by Yolo County. El Dorado County's allocation for the FY 2008/09 program is $63,000.

The Cal-MMET grant for FY 2008-09 is a 6 month allocation. This grant was not originally included in the Sheriff's budget because the Govenor had proposed to eliminate funding. Since the budget was prepared, the grant has been funded and Yolo County, the granting agency, has submitted El Dorado County it's share.

Reason for Recommendation:The attached budget transfer will add an additional $63,000 in revenue and offsetting expenditures to the FY 2008/09 budget. The $63,000 will be distributed to support the West El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team (WENET $ 7,665) and the South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team (SLEDNET $55,335).

Funding from the Cal-MMET grant will not be included in the Sheriff's FY 2009-10 budget. As with FY 2008-09, it is not anticipated that this grant will be continued. Should funding become available at a later date, the Sheriff's Department will bring an agenda item and budget transfer forward to include the revenue and offsetting expenditures in the Sheriff's budget.
