Body

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION:

Sheriff’s Office recommends the approval and signing of this Agreement #2951.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:

When the El Dorado County Coroner investigates a homicide, a suspicious death, or a death from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, an autopsy needs to be conducted by a certified forensic pathologist in order to have credible evidence for a court proceeding or to comply with state protocols. El Dorado County does not employ a certified forensic pathologist, and as a result, the Sheriff’s Office has historically contracted with Sacramento County for these services.

On February 13, 2018, the current contract was amended to include consulting services regarding design input and future equipment needs for the El Dorado County Public Safety Morgue Facility on an “as requested” basis.  This new contract will also include these consulting services.

The current contract with Sacramento County for these services expires on June 30, 2018.
