Library Department recommending the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign the attached Budget Transfer to appropriate $20,150 from the South Lake Tahoe Myers Library Trust to the Accumulative Capital Outlay Fund to be used for services from Moniz Architecture and for project management from Facilities to provide conceptual design for the South Lake Tahoe children's room and meeting room.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The South Lake Tahoe Library was built in 1983, and the furnishings and layout have not changed for thirty-five years. Community Hubs, early learning programs, play centers and technology have now become a focus of the library, and the children's room and meeting room need to be updated to serve the needs of the community. The library requires the professional services of an architect to design a plan to improve the functionality of the space, incorporate and improve the use of the meeting room for early learning classes, create study areas for students, and provide more creative and imaginative surroundings for families.
This item does not alter the not-to-exceed amount of the Agreement with Moniz Architecture. The final plan will be used to raise funds within the community to construct and complete the project.

The Board could choose to not approve the budget transfer.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Agreement for Services #3128 with Moniz Architecture was approved by the purchasing agent and has a not-to-exceed cost of $16,150. Facilities project management is approximately $4,000. The total cost of the project is $20,150.
