Background: Amendment No. 1 to agreement No. ELDO200801 allows for continuation (one year) of funding to be provided to UC Regents for salary & benefits for one-half of a full time 4-H Youth Development Program Representative. In past years the existing agreement was simply amended. Last year due to the age of the amended agreement (seven years) the University required a new agreement. This is the first amendment to that new agreement which was approved by the Board for FY 08/09. Funding for this amendment is included in the proposed UCCE FY 09/10 budget request. Funding is for the period of July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.

Reason for Recommendation: This position is vital to El Dorado County's youth development program. Program goals include development of projects, programs, activities and resource materials for youth and volunteer 4-H leaders, expansion of 4-H Youth Development Program to under-represented clientele including South Lake Tahoe, and continued work of the El Dorado County Youth Commission. This 50/50 match between the County and UC Regents would facilitate the retention of the Youth Development Program Representative, thereby allowing the UCCE to maintain and expand its programs.
