Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On August 27, 2019 (Item No. 31, File No. 19-1194), the Board adopted Resolution No. 136-2019 amending the Authorized Personnel Allocation in order to add 1.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) Sr.  Vector Control Technician - Limited Term Position to provide for an additional lead position under the Environmental Management Department (Environmental Management), South Lake Tahoe Vector Control Program. Following the Board’s approval of Resolution 136-2019, Environmental Management worked with Human Resources to conduct a recruitment and an internal candidate was selected to fill the position.

The aforementioned agenda item also stated “It should be noted that there are internal candidates in Environmental Management who will likely be interested in this position. If a candidate who is currently holding an allocated position within Environmental Management is selected, staff will return to the Board with a follow-up item and resolution to delete the existing position.” The proposed Resolution amending the Authorized Personnel Allocation will delete the vacated 1.0 FTE Limited Term Vector Control Technician accordingly. There is no net increase in the number of FTEs in Fiscal Year 2019/20 compared to Fiscal Year 2018/19.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may choose not to approve this personnel change. This would result in an extra allocation under Environmental Management which is not needed at this time. Should the need for an additional allocation for this classification be needed at a future date, Environmental Management will return to the Board for consideration.
