Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
There is no fiscal impact. Funds are included in the budget and this amendment does not change the total funding amount.

Background:
On July 1, 2008, the AQMD Board of Directors awarded Funding Agreement No.
008-DMV-08/09-BOS in the amount of $79,037.25 to Meeks Bay FPD to replace an existing old, small and inefficient dump truck with a new, larger and more efficient model.  The new truck, purchased in October 2008, significantly reduces diesel fuel consumption, air pollutant emissions and vehicle miles traveled due to its cleaner low emission engine, larger dump-bed capacity to more efficiently haul forest biomass and adequate towing capacity to legally tow track chipper equipment to various job sites, rather then contracting for its transport with a third party.   The Funding Agreement expiration date was June 30, 2009, and Meeks Bay FPD was eligible for reimbursement of the cost of the freightliner truck, dump box and associated taxes.

As indicated in the attached letter from Chief John Pang, to date he has been unable to secure the required documentation (GVW sticker) from the vendor to properly register the truck.  Therefore, the DMV tax payment estimated at $4,252.88, which was to be covered per the above referenced Funding Agreement, remains outstanding.

Reason for Recommendation:
Approval of this amendment will allow for a reimbursement of the estimated DMV tax expense to Meeks Bay FPD .  The total funding award amount will remain unchanged.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
Forward executed amendment to AQMD for further processing.
