Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On November 11, 2019, the Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Placer County, Tahoe National Forest, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, Eldorado National Forest, and the California State Parks Off Highway Motor Vehicle Division for the coordination of efforts on the Rubicon Trail. On January 28, 2020, the Board approved and authorized the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer to execute agreement G18-03-06-G01 for Grounds Operations and Maintenance on the Rubicon Trail.

In the upcoming 2020 season, the El Dorado County Parks Division will be assisting in the coordination of efforts for maintenance activities on the Placer County section of the trail and is assisting with grant administration for this section under agreement G18-03-06-G01. No El Dorado County funds will be used for the Placer County section of the trail.

The donation of $32,000 provided by the Rubicon Trail Foundation will be used specifically as matching funds for all grant funds/expenses on the Placer County section of the trail. These funds will be used specifically as matching funds for helicopter flight time for the purpose of transporting rock to Cadillac Hill and other Placer County project areas. The Rubicon Trail Foundation will be paying the County as the project occurs for a total amount of $32,000. Approval of this item would authorize Vickie Sanders, Parks Manager, to accept the donations as they are received for a total amount of $32,000.

ALTERNATIVES
