Clerk of the Board recommending the Board accept the following resignation and make the following Public Member appointment to the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families:

1) Accept the resignation of Atila Farr; and

2) Appoint Barry Harwell, Public Member, Term Expiration 06/30/2021.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:

On June 30, 2020, the Board made the appointments to the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families. It was discovered and confirmed after the appointment that the Public Member lived outside of El Dorado County. A resignation was received and another candidate was selected to replace the Public Member.

 

On December 17, 2019, the Board of Supervisors passed Resolution 236-2019 establishing the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families.  Resolution 236-2019, Section 3 “Commission Membership” states that the El Dorado Commission for Youth and Families shall consist of nine Commissioners. Four of the Commissioners will be ex officio members and five Public Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors.  Those five Public Members shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors from a pool of county residents who apply and who have demonstrated interest and experience in the areas of the Commission’s responsibility.

 

In accordance with Resolution 236-2019, the five Public Members shall serve at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors. 

 

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board could decline to appoint the proposed applicant to the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families.
