Body

On September 23, 2008, Supervisor Santiago recommended Board approve a letter of commitment of matching funds for an Economic Development Administration Technical Assistance grant to develop an Economic Prosperity Plan for the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Supervisor Santiago is pleased to announce the successful award of $60,000 to the county for this plan and requests the Chief Administrative Officer to distribute the county match funds accordingly and as soon as possible.

A partnership of all Tahoe Basin jurisdictions and interest groups have convened over the course of several months to outline and submit a pre-application for a 'technical assistance grant' through the federal Economic Development Administration for the purpose of establishing a Tahoe Basin Prosperity Plan.

The prosperity plan for the Tahoe Basin will provide guidance for various entities:  government, institutions, non-profits, and businesses, to facilitate their working together to achieve the vision for long-term sustainable economic growth with higher paying jobs.

The scope of work is described in the attachments and the amount of the grant is approximately $60,000.

ACTION REQUESTED:  Board direct CAO to issue matching funds in the amount of $20,000.
