DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:

The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) greatly appreciates Valerie Bellnap, Public Health Nurse II, for her 20 years of dedicated public service and excellence in the Public Health Division. Serving the agency since June 30, 2001. Valerie has served a number of key areas across Public Health Nursing Programs, including: Preventative Healthcare for the Aging to serve residents 55 years and older; Child Health and Disability Prevention to evaluate and advocate for healthcare needs of underserved children; Field Public Health Nursing to assess families through home visitation in order to facilitate appropriate treatment and care for mothers and their babies; and most recently her role within the El Dorado High School District as part of a Healthy Start grant. In this role, Valerie has supported high school students through providing case management, crisis intervention to students and families, and many more community supports that speak directly to Valerie’s desire to professionally care for those in need of assistance. Through Valerie's work, she has undoubtedly created positive ripple effects that will be felt throughout El Dorado communities for many years to come, transforming the lives and improving the futures of everyone she has served. HHSA seeks the Board's support in recognizing Valerie Bellnap, RN, upon her retirement from El Dorado County.
