Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  There is no change to department budget.  This program was included as part of the Fiscal Year 2009-2010 budget package.

Reason for Recommendation:The Elder Abuse program is an integral component to providing services to the elderly population in El Dorado County.  The District Attorney's Office has received funding from the Office of Emergency Services since fiscal year 2003-2004.  This funding is appropriated for 80% of the program costs along with a 20% cash match from the County.  Based upon 2007 figures those residents over age 60 account for just under one quarter of the counties population.  The funding received allows staff to continue to identify, educate, promote and assist victims of crime  within the elderly population.

Action to be taken following Board approval:  Request for Application to be returned to the District Attorney's office with the signed Certification.  Department will then forward application to the Governors Office of Emergency Services.
