Title: Probation Department recommending the Board: 1) Make findings in accordance with County ordinance 3.13.030(E) that the provision of services provided by Contractor is with or among any other governmental entity or agency; 2) Approve and authorize the Chair to sign Agreement 7047 with El Dorado County Office of Education; in an amount not to exceed $180,000 for a three-year term commencing upon full execution; and 3) Authorize the Chief Probation Officer and Deputy Chief Probation Officer to execute further documents relating to Agreement for Services 7047, including future amendments that do not increase the maximum dollar amount or term of the agreement, contingent upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management. DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Probation Department (Probation) recommending the Board approve this agreement to expand the training and workforce development opportunities provided in the community as a recidivism reduction and crime prevention effort. The contract will allow El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) to provide for training with the local Future Fire Academy (FFA), a program for transitional-aged youth and adult Probation clients. FFA academy training consists of classroom training, field training, hands-on defensible space training, and hand-crew activity. Workforce development is a primary factor in recidivism reduction work and increasing the number of trained fire professionals has a direct benefit to the communities of El Dorado County and the State of California.

Upon successful completion of training Future Fire Academy cadets will receive certification sufficient to gain employment in the fire service.
