Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: No change to net county cost. The funding is available within the Probation Department's FY2009-10 budget.
Reason for Recommendation: On December 18, 2009, the Chief Probation Officer for El Dorado County submitted a letter announcing his retirement effective January 29, 2010.
On January 12, 2010, the Judges of the El Dorado County Superior Court voted to appoint an Interim Chief Probation Officer. The appointment of Gary Hudgeons is effective Janaury 30, 2010 and shall continue until such a time as the Judges of the El Dorado County Superior Court appoint a new Chief Probation Officer.
It is recommended that this Interim appoint be made at Step 1 of the Chief Probation Officer salary range. Step 1, which is $52.22, will allow for the payment of 9% PERS which is a provision for department head status as well as allow for more than a 5% increase in base compensation during the term of appointment.
