Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: There is no Net County Cost associated with this Agreement; there is no remuneration required for these services.

Background: The County of El Dorado established an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) System, pursuant to Health & Safety Code (H&S) § 1797.220 to provide basic life support medical services to the community. A part of the EMS System includes an Advanced Life Support (ALS) program in accordance with H&S §1797.52, which defines ALS as follows: "Advanced life support means special services designed to provide definitive prehospital emergency medical care, including, but not limited to, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, cardiac monitoring, cardiac defibrillation, advanced airway management, intravenous therapy, administration of specified drugs and other medicinal preparations, and other specified techniques and procedures administered by authorized personnel under the direct supervision of a base hospital as part of a local EMS system at the scene of an emergency, during transport to an acute care hospital, during interfacility transfer, and while in the emergency department of an acute care hospital until responsibility is assumed by the emergency or other medical staff of that hospital.”

Barton Healthcare System has partnered with the County to provide Base Hospital support services to the community for the past several years and this Agreement renews the commitment of all parties to the provision of quality, timely, and effective ALS services.

Compensation for Services: There is no remuneration associated with this Agreement.
