Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None.
Reason for Recommendation: Effective 1-1-11, the Courts will be required to collect a new $4.00 penalty pursuant to AB2173. Pursuant to GC 76000.10 (d) these Court collections are to be deposited into an interest bearing County trust fund established by the Board of Supervisors. These funds will then be remitted on a quarterly basis to the State and deposited into the State's Emergency Medical Air Transport Fund (EMATF). Once the County's EMATF Trust Fund is approved by the Board, the Courts will begin depositing these collections into the County EMATF Trust Fund and the Auditor-Controller's Office will remit these collections, plus accrued interest, less administration fees pursuant to GC 76000.10 (1), to the State on a quarterly basis.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Auditor-Controller to open interest bearing fiduciary agency fund #41-503-979, index #8803979, Title: ST: EMATF GC76000.10 and assume administrative responsibility of the fund.
